A single large Air-Pot container has provided a steady supply of carrots for months, very handy to have near the kitchen for freshly pulled roots. They have such an intense carrot flavour and smell compared to those store-bought carrots kept too long at the bottom of the fridge. There is no damage from carrot root fly which often strikes when growing in the ground.

The tomatoes are ripening in force and some such as Indigo Blue Beauty are looking stunning.

A large and particularly vigorous local Brown Turkey fig tree has provided many cuttings, which seem keen to fruit while still fairly small. This little tree in a small 3 litre Air-Pot container has several good sized fruit on last year’s wood and small ones forming on new wood. The largest fig is just beginning to colour reddish brown as it ripens. A welcome treat and quite a surprise on such a small tree grown outdoors in Scotland.
