It is not too early to plant some extra early potatoes in an Air-Pot Potato Tower if you are ready to protect new growth from late frosts. If there is room in an unheated greenhouse that should maintain temperatures high enough to keep them growing, perhaps with a layer of horticultural fleece or a cloth on coldest nights.

Late Winter is a good time to strike cuttings of perennial kale such as this Ewiger Kohl (eternal cabbage). Side shoots dipped in rooting hormone powder then poked into a soil filled 1 litre Air-Pot container should have a good chance of growing into new plants. The Air-Pot containers keep soil well drained and aerated which helps avoid rotting of cuttings.

A leek flower allowed to fully mature and then dried has provided lots of small black seeds amongst the chaff. An Air-Pot seed tray at about 100mm depth will allow seedlings to develop to pencil size ready for transplanting in early summer.
